Panagia Paraportiani, also known as "Our Lady of the Postern Gate", was a vital part of Chora's fortress walls until the 17th century. Before summer sunseekers, pirates invading the island of Mykonos initially faced five Byzantine era whitewashed churches in one protecting it's gates.
